Enhancing the Role of Women in Peacebuilding

In order to strengthen and revitalize the activities of Religions for Peace Nigeria Women of Faith Network NWFN both at the State and National levels, NWFN Board was established in September, 2017. The Board was made up of the National Women Leaders from the following religious organizations in Nigeria: Women National Director, Assemblies of God, Ahmadiyya, Nigeria, Fed. of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria. (FOMWAN), Anglican Communion, Organisation of African Institute W/C Dept. OAIC, Jmat Nasril Islam, NASFAT, Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria CWO, Alhabibayya Movement, Nigeria Conference of Women Religious NCWR and ECWA Church.

The Co-Chairs of Nigeria Women of Faith Network NWFN Sr. Agatha Chikelue DMMM & Hajya Maryam Dada Ibrahim welcomed the participants and thanked them for accepting their invitation and appointment as Board Members of Religions for Peace Nigeria Women of Faith Network. They also recognized the numerous work these women were doing in view of promoting peace and development in their various communities and urged them that henceforth, as Board Members of the Nigeria Women of Faith Network NWFN, they will not just represent their own organization but the interest of Nigerian women. The NWFN Guidelines was presented and handed over to the Board Members during the meeting.

His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan who is also one of the patrons of NWFN gave a brief warm remarks during the meeting. He encouraged the newly appointed Board Members to use women of faith as platform to participate in community and nation building.
