In collaboration with COFP, the African Medical Missions successfully carried out a six-day Medical Outreach in Kabusa (24th – 27th June) and Wassa (28th – 29th June) IDP Camps respectively between 24th – 29th of June, 2019. The Medical team headed by Dr. Kelvin White from California, USA was made of 27 caregivers and experts, comprised of Medical Doctors, Nurses, Social workers, Pharmacists and Volunteers who sacrificed their vacations to reach out to the poor, sick and displaced victims of Boko Haram Insurgency in Nigeria.
The team was welcomed by His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan and thereafter, commenced medical outreach in both camps, amidst heavy downpour. About 2,500 men, women and children from diverse backgrounds benefited from the outreach. Ailments such as toothaches, eye problems, typhoid, malaria, infections, heart diseases, diabetics, skin problems, among others were treated. Most notable was the delivery of a bouncing baby boy by one of the beneficiaries who had never been to the hospital throughout her pregnancy period. Furthermore, free drugs, hygiene packs, reading glasses, etc., including toys, clothes, etc., were distributed to beneficiaries. Rev. Fr. Aloysius Ezeonyeka and Rev. Sr. Mary Francis, took turns in offering prayers for the beneficiaries and the medical team. Beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude and prayed for God’s blessings on the team and the Foundation.
