GNRC Sixth Global Forum in Abu Dhabi, UAE

From November 19–21, 2024, the Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP) participated actively in the Sixth Global Forum of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, under the theme “The Child Is Calling: Interfaith Cooperation to Build a Hopeful World for Children”. Led by the Founder and President of COFP Foundation, His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan CON, the Forum brought together global leaders to address pressing issues affecting children as well as to proffer solutions for a safer, more inclusive world. The COFP delegation which includes Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Executive Director of COFP Rev. Sr. Agatha Chikelue, and the Program Officer Mr. Nicholas Dike participated in different capacities as panelists emphasizing the urgent need for collective responsibility in protecting children amidst a rapidly changing world. They highlighted how insecurity, intolerance, and challenges in the digital age threaten children’s well-being. Discussions at the Forum stressed the importance of strengthening family values, promoting inclusivity, and equipping children with the tools to navigate the digital world safely. Collaborative efforts among families, educators, religious institutions, and policymakers were identified as critical to creating a hopeful future for children.
