Under the Project of Action for Common Endeavour (PACE), the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace convened the Nigerian Peace Summit in Westminster, London, United Kingdom, from 27th to 29th April 2026. The three-day event brought together senior Muslim and Christian leaders from diverse Nigerian communities to strengthen interfaith collaboration and advance sustainable peace. The summit was organized under the auspices of His Eminence Shaykh Abdallah bin Bayyah and Bishop Justin Welby, and co-convened by COFP Founder, Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan CON, and Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini. It provided a platform for honest dialogue, genuine connections, and collective reflection on Nigeria’s current peace and security challenges. The Summit also drew the participation of international observers from the US State Department and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. COFP was also represented through its Executive Director, Sr. Agatha Chikelue, who joined Cardinal Onaiyekan, other faith and peacebuilding leaders in the discussions.

Over the three days, the Summit focused on renewing relationships among Nigerian faith leaders while creating a safe space for dialogue and truth-telling about the challenges facing individuals and communities across the country. Participants also explored the development of a common platform of Nigerian Social Teaching to promote the common good, counter extremist narratives, encourage collective social action, and contribute to ending religious and ethnic-based killings of Christians and Muslims. The Summit marked the beginning of a longer-term process geared at translating dialogue into sustained peacebuilding efforts in Nigeria.
