Catholic Sisters Initiative Convening in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Organized under the theme “Journeying Together in Solidarity and Hope: Strengthening Communities and Cultivating Shared Impact for the Common Good”, the 2026 Catholic Sisters Initiative Convening marked the beginning of Strategy 30 (2026–2031) for the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation’s (CHF). Hosted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the convening brought together Catholic Sisters involved in various projects and supported by the CHF from different parts of Africa and beyond to reflect on the achievements of Strategy 25 (2020–2025). It explored the priorities of the new strategy, and strengthened partnerships in pursuit of the common good. Representing the Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP), Executive Director Sr. Agatha Chikelue joined fellow Catholic Sisters, Priests and lay people from different parts of the continent at the convening to share stories of transformation springing from the CHF supported projects.
Throughout the three-day convening from 10th-12th June 2026, participants explored practical ways to strengthen collaboration through dialogue, mutual learning and the practice of synodality. Discussions also focused on embedding safeguarding within program structures and support systems to ensure the protection of children, youth and vulnerable adults, while identifying new opportunities for collaboration and sustainable community impact at the local, national and global levels.
