A Day with the Cardinal
On Thursday, 9th January 2025, the entire Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP) team led by the Executive Director, Rev. Sr. Agatha Chikelue DMMM embarked on a special visit, one that brings about intergenerational learning, inspires vision, and deepens the bond with the man whose name and legacy we proudly carry.
It was an extraordinary day spent with our Founder and President, His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan, at his residence. First-of-its-kind, this visit was more than a courtesy call; it was a moment of reflection, sharing, learning, gratitude, and renewed purpose. The visit, now envisioned as an annual culture to mark the Cardinal’s Episcopal and Priestly ordination anniversary was filled with joy. It gave each staff the unique opportunity to personally introduce themselves, share their roles and experiences within the Foundation, and express their aspirations for the future of COFP.
His Eminence, in his usual characteristic and charismatic warmth welcomed the COFP team, listened and shared stories with the team, offered prayers for peace, unity, health, protection and blessings for each and every one of the staff, for the entire Foundation, for our country Nigeria and for humanity in general through the celebration of a Holy Mass. The day concluded with a delicious lunch with the Cardinal, giving the team the opportunity to dine and wine with a humble boss, father, mentor and friend. A day with the Cardinal is not just a day for a visit. It was a reminder of why we do what we do at COFP and the spirit that drives our work, constantly reminding us to be instruments of peace, guided by the wisdom and vision of one who has dedicated his life to the cause of justice, dialogue, and peace.
