ALH. IBRAHIM ABUBAKAR JEGA

Alh. Ibrahim AbubakarJega is a Nigerian of Kebbi State Origin from Jega Local Government Area. Born In 1950, Alh. Jega is a Graduate of Education

(Language Arts) from the Ahmadu Bello University.He has a solid Islamic Education Foundation from the College of Arts and Arabic Studies in Sokoto from 1965 to 1969. His quest for Islamic Knowledge continued unabated despite the rigor of Offices he occupied at various stages in his career.  As an Educationist and Administrator, he served in various capacities both in the Ministry of Education in the former Sokoto and the present Kebbi State from 1977 to 1999. In the year 1988-89, he was elected to represent Maiyama Federal Constituency in the Constituent Assembly in Abuja to draw the Constitution for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Alh. Jega was a Director General and later Honorable Commissioner for Works, Lands and Housing in Kebbi State before joining the Federal Civil Service in 1999 on transfer where he served as a Deputy Director and later Director in various Ministries including the Presidency in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Alh. Jega retired from the Federal Service in December 2010. After retirement from the Civil Service he served as Executive Secretary of Nigeria’s Abuja National Mosque from Jan. 2011 to March 2018.

Alh.Jega held the prestigious title of MatawallenJega(A Community Recognition Title for Community Services) from 2003 to 2016 before ascending to the traditional stool of his fore fathers as the 9th Hirchin of Jega and member of the Jega Traditional Council.

Alh. Jega has been making positive contributions in Inter-faith and Peace-Building initiatives towards Intra and Inter-religious harmony and understanding at both National and International Levels. He has been working closely with Cardinal John Onaiyekanthe Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Nigeria in the area of Dialogue and Peace Building.
