Muhammad Alhaji Gana hails from Jere Local Government Area of Borno state. Fluent in Arabic, Kanuri and Hausa languages, Muhammad has a B.A. and M.A. in Islamic studies. A Shia Muslim of the Rasulul-A’azam Foundation (RAAF) of Nigeria, he is a member of the International Committee of the Red Cross and has worked and trained in other international organizations.
As the State chairman of the RAAF, Muhammad has struggled to keep the mutual understanding between different schools of faiths in North-Eastern Nigeria for the past 10 years, especially among Christians and Muslims. He posits that without mediation and interfaith dialogue, there would be no peace among people. To this effect, he is motivated by the works of the COFP Foundation which is the mission he has been searching for; he hopes to get more knowledge from this program so as to build a strong foundation for peace and Mediation between religious groups of his native Borno State in particular and the North-East at large as well as bridge the gap and missing link.
