Despite difficulties posed by the COVID 19 pandemic, the Class of 2020 COFP Fellows commenced theirthird and final module with a week-long program on Interreligious Dialogue, Conflict Transformation and Mediation from August9th – 15th, 2020 in Abuja Nigeria. According to the Executive Director, Sr. Agatha Chikelue, “The discovery of a novel coronavirus disease has exposed our connectedness as humans as well as social injustice, tribalism, discrimination, poverty and inequality that continue to divide us, our Fellowship program has become a hub that equip actors to recommit themselves to non-violence and collective responsibility in order to build a new normal base on human dignity, social justice and religious freedom for sustainable peace”.
After a one-year intensive program, the Foundation graduated her 35 set of 2019/2020 Fellows on August 14th 2020. The 35 Fellows received the Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP) certificate in “Interreligious Dialogue, Conflict Transformation and Mediation” issued by Veritas University of Nigeria and Nile University of Nigeria who are partners of COFP in the project. Fellows also received an Award as COFP Ambassadors of Peace and were inducted into the COFP Alumni Network of Peace builders CANEP to enable them continue with the work of community peace building with past Fellows after their graduation.
