It is a popularly held view that the most unifying and widely understood language in the world is the language of SPORTS, especially the game of soccer. The game of soccer have to a very large extent helped to contain the problem of racism and discrimination across the world, and have brought people of diverse religions, beliefs, ethnicities and even political affiliations together in a common field of play. That is why we have decided to include sports in our programs in a bid to promote peace. For COFP, sports is not just a game but an important avenue for promoting peace and appreciating our diversities. In that light, the Foundation organized a football competition for female teams in FCT Abuja, Nasarawa, Plateau and Niger States from January to March 2020.The choice of female teams this time as against their male counterpart whom we have previously engaged in peace soccer is to ensure gender balance and further buttress the point that women can also be agents of peace through sporting activities. The tournament which was tagged “Soccer for Peace” ended with certificates, trophies and monetary awards from the Foundation to different winning categories like: most disciplined team, best behaved player, most disciplined coach, 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions and finally to the officials of the event.
