Ending Violence Against Children (EVAC)

On Thursday 26th September 2019, Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP) Conducted a one-day intensive training on Ending Violence Against Children for 40 Teachers and Caregivers selected from 15 Schools within the FCT Abuja. The participants consist of both Christians and Muslims and males and females from different Schools.

Held at Top Rank Hotel Galaxy Utako Abuja, the training was built on combating the increased rate of violence, violation and abuse of children and their rights in our local communities and the country at large, most especially, abuse & violence on the girl child which have not received due and enough attention.

The objectives of this training were to identify, describe and commit to child’s rights, understanding the basis of the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of a child; as well as the Nigeria Child Rights Act and its implication for defaulters in addition to adhering to what our various religious doctrines teaches about protecting and providing for the well being of children.

Participants were exposed to the various forms of violence/abuse against children and the different environment they are perpetrated. The emphasis was to give more attention to children by ensuring that they are always protected and provided for at all times.
