COFP Fellowship Program in Its 4th Year

The COFP Fellowship program, has continued to leave a trail of tremendous positive impact since its inception four years ago.  In April 2021, the third set of COFP Fellows being Class of 2021 (40 Fellows in total). The new cohort of COFP Fellows which is the 4th set of the Fellowship Program totaling 60 Nigerians and foreigners started off another one-year Fellowship program (2021/2022) with module one in July 2021. Over 650 applications were received for the program while 91 applications came from foreigners from different parts of Africa and other parts of the world. Apart from the Nigerian participants who were in the majority, the rest were foreign Fellows from ten African countries: Ghana, Liberia, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo DRC, Cameroon, Kenya, Zambia, Somalia, Morocco & South Africa were selected for the program.

These above participants represent adherents of the following Christian and Muslim sects/denominations within Nigeria and Africa. From the Muslim sects are: Sunni, Shite, NASFAT, Qadiriyyah, Ahmadiyya, and Tijjania, From the Christian faith came Catholic, Baptist, EYN, Orthodox, Presbyterial, Lutheran and Anglican. The 60 COFP Fellows having passed through the three modules of COFP Fellowship Program, completed the required Fellowship courses, carried out their community peace project in different countries of Africa and sat for their final examination. All these qualified them for graduation which took place on the 21st of May 2022 at Ajuji Greenwich Hotel Abuja Nigeria. Upon graduation, University Certificates from Veritas University of Nigeria and Nile University of Nigeria were issued on “Interreligious Dialogue, Conflict Transformation and Mediation”.

Significantly, the graduation ceremony of the above-mentioned Class of 2022 COFP Fellows qualified them to join as members of the COFP Africa Network of Peacebuilders (CANEP) which is a nationwide and now continental scale network that enable Fellows from across the continent to further their interaction, boost cross cultural learning, engage in peacebuilding joint interventions and continue to share experiences and best practices even after the Fellowship program. We are glad today that our Fellowship Program has created an African Peacebuilders Hub with global solidarity. All thanks to the GHR Foundation, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, German Federal Foreign Office and a host of other partners whose support has kept this life changing program moving.
