Hajya Samiat Omolara Mumuni is a native of Lagos state. She is a B.A. Degree holder in Sociology and M.Sc. in Community Development from the Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. As a management and public administration professional, she has held several administrative positions and contributed greatly to the social development of her local government and state. Hajya Samiat is currently the Director Finance and Administration in the Local Government Establishment and Pensions, and the President Lagos State Customary Court, Lagos Island. She is a Muslim of the NASFAT denomination and the National Women Affairs Secretary of NASFAT. She is a Board Member of the Nigerian Women of Faith Network which is affiliated to Religion for Peace RfP.
Samiat believes that whether Christian or Muslim, we all talk to the same One Supreme God and as such, see no reason for violence along religious or ethnic lines. This has informed her vision for inclusive society for social and human developments. She is confident that interreligious dialogue and mediation brings about understanding of each other’s beliefs which translates to peaceful coexistence and healthy collaboration in the society. She hopes to adopt the Train-the Trainer approach from the Fellowship program so that empowered; she will orientate stakeholders from zonal levels so that they will in turn pass the knowledge across to the branches under their zones.
