WASH Project in IDPs Camp

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene are basic necessities for a healthy living. Understanding that water is necessary for human survival, COFP believes that it is not just any water but that good clean water is important for healthy living and survival. That notwithstanding, lack of accessible, reliable and safe drinking water was one of the core problems identified in Amper community of Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state. The initiative to construct two boreholes by the Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace in collaboration with the Czech Republic in Amper Community of Plateau State was as a result of the untold suffering that women and children experience as they trek long distances in search of potable water for their daily use. Hence, provision of safe water close to the community became a necessity, and with the support from the Czech Government, the Foundation commissioned two boreholes for the community on 25thof July, 2019, to make for easier access to water. Ms. Beata Matusikova, representing the Czech Government, commissioned the twin projects and the Local Ordinary of Pankshin Diocese, Most Revd. Dr. Michael Gokum, appreciated the immense intervention of COFP and the Czech Government.

Furthermore, to support the IDP Camp in Area 1 Garki, Abuja; COFP, assisted by the Czech Embassy, constructed a block of 3 toilets for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Area 1 Abuja. The toilet was commissioned on September 12, 2019 and the community was urged to keep it clean for healthy living.
